Syllabus We'll cover Module theory: classification of finitely generated modules over PIDs, exact sequences and tensor products, algebras, localisation, chain conditions. Primary decomposition, integral extensions, Noether's normalisation lemma, and Hilbert's Nullstellensatz. If time permits, other topics will be covered.
Textbook: Eisenbud's Commutative Algebra

Coursework and Grades:
Grades will be based on individual homework
assignments (60%) and a final exam (40%).
