How to Provide Prompt Midterm Feedback to Large Classes without Sacrificing your Sanity
Dr Heidi Engelhardt (Biology) and Dr Stefan Idziak (Physics) will be sharing
different (ingenious) methods that they have devised to provide prompt,
online feedback to midterms in their very large classes. Their goal is to
give timely and useful feedback to students while balancing concerns about
exam security and the time they can afford to invest in the process.
Time and place: Friday, November 6th, 12 – 1pm in EV1 241
CTE Events in Fall 2015
- CTE686: LEARN Instructor Users Group
Monday, December 7, 2015, 2-3 pm, EV1 241,
registration.
The Learn User Group event provides an opportunity for instructors to see
examples of innovative ways that other faculty members are using LEARN on
campus. Two instructors will present activities that they have created
for their students in LEARN. They will discuss why incorporating the
activities into an online environment enhanced the learning experience
for their students and share their own experiences of creating and
facilitating these activities.
- CTE656: Getting Started in LEARN
Tuesday, December 8, 2015, 1-3 pm, EV1 241,
registration.
This two hour hands-on workshop will introduce you to Desire2learn
(D2L), our course management system for presenting course activities
and resources in on-campus and fully online courses. By the end of this
session you will: be able to use the D2L environment to communicate with
your students; make decisions around the most effective way to organize
content in your course; have basic knowledge of the tools available
within D2L and the ability to use these tools effectively. Please bring
your own laptop to this session
