At this one-day retreat you will learn how to set up a course in LEARN, the University of Waterloo's online learning management system. By the end of the day a course shell tailored to your needs, with the elements you want — syllabus, learning activities, quizzes and tests, gradebook, dropboxes, discussion forums — will be ready to go.
Other workshops on LEARN (September 2018) will offer introductions to specific items such as the gradebook or the quizzing feature. At the Retreat we will concentrate on how to bring it all together for someone who needs to get a course up and running. You will see how you can maximize the benefits of using LEARN in your courses. And because you will be working closely with other instructors, you will have the opportunity to exchange ideas and strategies with individuals who are passionate about teaching from across campus.
Who should come to the Integrated LEARN Retreat?
Anyone interested in
becoming a self-sufficient LEARNer.
CTE and
IST/ITMS are always
available to assist you, but imagine the freedom of being able to do
all of it, or most of it, on your own. That's the goal of the Integrated
LEARN Retreat (ILR), and we'd be happy to see you there.
How it works:
One of the benefits of the retreat is the small group size; the participants in the previous retreats really appreciated the personal attention. If you are interested in taking part, please get in touch right away so that we can guarantee you a spot. Because of the limited number of spots, registration will be done on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Should you register but space be unavailable, we will put you on a waiting list should anyone drop out, or worst case, invite you to the next ILR.
