An Introduction to Crowdmark: Online Grading

Today's Message

• online marking has some management benefits
• instructors in the math faculty like it for large classes

• Crowdmark is not a quiz system (has a bit of MC automatic grading)

Benefits

• can still mark a-question-at-a-time or a-student-at-a-time
• no more paper handling once grading begun
• can monitor the quality of grading
• markers can't see who they are grading
• can grade group work
• grading 24/7
• automatic sum and summary of grades
• can reuse marking comments
• complete set of graded papers is available for review and corrections
  • no tampering by students
  • student submissions are always available for grade corrections

CM Workflow for Test

      log into CM 
      create CM course from LEARN
      name CM test
      test pdf --> upload to CM 
               --> download test pdf with scan codes
               --> print test pdf
               --> students write test
               --> scan, and upload tests to CM
  
               --> markers grade online
               --> marked tests sent to students
               --> grades pushed to LEARN manually

CM Workflow for Assignment

  log into CM 
  create CM course from LEARN
  name CM assignment
  assignment pdf --> upload to CM or to LEARN
            --> tell CM the number of Qs and pts
            --> CM sends students their unique URL
            --> students print, do, scan & upload to CM
  
            --> markers grade online
            --> marked assignments sent to students
            --> grades pushed to LEARN manually
  

CM Workflow for Odyssey

  log into Odyssey
          --> fill in settings 
              - assigned seats, time, place, etc
              - CM setting:
                Odyssey makes CM course & test for you
          --> upload test/exam into Odyssey
          --> papers printed by New Media Services
              and delivered to you
          --> students write test
          --> papers go to NMS for scan & upload into CM
  
          --> markers grade online
          --> marked tests sent to students
          --> grades pushed to LEARN manually
