During his short but fruitful life, Jos F. Sturm had demonstrated what it
meant to be an academic researcher with a keen interest in solving real-life
problems. The research topics that Jos had intensely worked on include:
-
conic duality theory
- interior point algorithms for symmetric cone
programming
- convergence analysis
- computational complexity analysis
- error bound analysis
-
model-building using Linear Matrix Inequalities
-
implementations of high performance optimization algorithms
-
numerical
techniques for solving large size nonlinear optimization problems
One of his
most significant contributions to the optimization community is
SeDuMi, an
optimization software package for symmetric cone programming including
Semidefinite Programming and Second Order Cone Programming. In its core,
SeDuMi relies on a great deal of the state-of-the-art knowledge regarding the
theory and implementations for nonlinear optimization. The contributions of
Jos Sturm are greatly appreciated by his fellow optimizers, and this
special volume is dedicated to him in his memory.
