The winter/97 final had 5 questions. 
The winter/98 final outline may differ. This outline will be redone during the
semester.

There was at least one question that dealt directly 
with a question from the homework problems.
In addition, there was at least one question that dealt directly
with a problem from the text.

The questions were:
   1 on convexity (functions and sets)
   1 on Lagrangian duality
   1 on barrier and penalty functions
   1 on KKT conditions
   1 on unconstrained optimization, i.e. steepest descent, Newton,
                             Gauss-Newton methods
