Date: Thu, 4 Feb 2021 16:54:44 -0500 From: Peter Benedek My parents were Holocaust survivors as well?my mother was in Auschwitz and my father in forced labour camps?much of their respective families were murdered in gas chambers?at my house the Holocaust was always discussed openly to make sure that the next generation learns about the atrocities, never forgets about the systematic industrial scale killing of Jews by one of the most civilized countries at the time (with the keen help of representatives from the local population), with intent to wipe out the entire people?I suspect that many like me suffer of second generation effects?but these effects should make us alert to emerging threats that might necessitate that we pick up suitcases and seek shelter elsewhere?it could happen anywhere. Thanks Evelyn, David and Henry for orchestrating the event last night and archiving the relevant documentation?it was enjoyable to reminisce (even though much of the discussion reconfirmed in my mind that my 2.5 years at OHS in somewhat of mental fog)?still was nice to see that so many of our colleagues have achieved such successful carriers and now enjoying an active and contented retirement.
