Professor Miskovic received his B.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in Engineering Physics in 1981 and 1991, respectively, both from University of Belgrade. After working for ten years as a staff scientist at the Institute of Nuclear Sciences - Vinca in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, he has moved to Canada in 1992, where he currently holds the position of a Professor with tenure in the Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Waterloo.

Professor Miskovic's research interests involve mathematical modeling and computer simulations of physical processes taking place when nano-meter sized structures interact with the surrounding material and with external probe particles. Over the years, Professor Miskovic has gained expertise in the following areas: ion-surface scattering, molecular electronics, interactions of accelerated clusters with solids and plasmas, structure and dynamics of dust particles in plasma sheath and, most recently, interactions of carbon nano-structures with charged particles. He has published well over 100 articles in refereed physics journals and presented dozens of seminars and invited lectures at various international meetings. He has refereed several research project proposals and he has acted as a referee for several international Physics journals. He is an Associated Editor of the journal Radiation Effects and Defects in Solids. In 2003, Professor Miskovic has received the Premier's Research Excellence Award of Canada for his research in the area of nano-science.
