I have written a four-part article on servicing the cartridge forks on a VFR. I haven't had the time to make it all nice and html-looking, so you'll have to put up with the plain text files for now.
Please note that the North-American VFR got cartridge forks in 1990, not 1992 as some people think. What happened in 1992 is that the forks gained pre-load adjusters.
