The Cheesy Music of Michael Rubinstein.

I don't think much of these compositions. However, a few people have suggested that I put them up, so here they are. These are all sequenced on a computer using primitive methods by an amateur. There's little soul in any of these renditions.

The pieces below were created in 94-95 while I was a student. They were stored on an analog cassette. The sound quality is pretty poor.

Here are the pieces:

This piece is kind of jumpy. (128K: 1.3 meg)

The cheesiest of my compositions, put together late one night in 1995. (128K: 4.6 meg)

A neurotic piano piece. I never finished it. (128K: 2.8 meg)

A piece in ABA form with a lousy transition back to A. (128K: 4.4 meg)

I wrote this in order to learn how to use a sequencer. (128K: 2.9 meg)

The first electronic composition I wrote, using Lansky's RT. It's in three parts. The first uses the sounds of New Jersey transit at Princeton Junction. The middle part uses a sampled monkey and some train sounds. The last part, which sounds a bit like a mechanical Kurt Weil, uses two sampled sounds- a chainsaw, and a piece of metal. The original digital version had much more presence. Alas, all I could find was the molded analog tape. (128K: 6.4 meg)
