Conference Program:

The full Congress program can be found on the AMMCS-CAIMS Congress site. Details regarding the program of the CFDSC conference are available here.

Important Announcements:

The submission deadline has been extended until May 31, 2015! The paper should be between six and nine pages, formatted using the same template as for the extended abstract, and a file size no larger than 5Mb. Please see submission instructions below. Note that CFDSC presentations follow the same format as those in the AMMCS-CAIMS Congress. Please see instructions for speakers here.

The CFD Society of Canada is pleased to announce that its 23rd Annual Conference will be hosted by the University of Waterloo alongside the 2015 AMMCS-CAIMS Congress. The aim of the conference is to bring together researchers, developers and practitioners in industry, government and academia to share their recent research in methodologies for performing numerical simulations of fluid flow and heat transfer in a broad spectrum of application areas. Participants in the CFDSC 2015 will benefit from access to the program of the host Congress, including keynote presentations. The CFDSC 2015 will feature a Student Paper Competition and a banquet.

The conferences will feature two invited keynote speakers in addition to the keynote presentations organized by the AMMCS-CAIMS Congress.

Conference Organizers:

Prof. Lilia Krivodonova and Dr. Lucian Ivan from the Department of Applied Mathematics, University of Waterloo.

Scope

The goal of the CFD Society of Canada is to promote research in computational fluid dynamics and to provide a framework for communication and collaboration between researchers, developers and practitioners, in industry, government and academia. The annual conference draws together researchers in CFD to highlight recent advances and challenges encountered in a broad spectrum of application areas and to facilitate scientific and technical exchange. Paper submissions are encouraged in all topics of current interest in the field of CFD. Topics of interest include but are not limited to: Development of CFD Methods and High-Performance Algorithms, Combustion and Reacting Flows, Multiphase Flows, Aero Design, Thin Film/Free Surface Flows, Heat Transfer, Turbulence Modelling, Non-Newtonian Fluids, Compressible and Supersonic Flows, Bio-Flows, Applications, Incompressible Flows, Aerodynamics, Turbomachinery, Aero-Acoustics, Environmental Flows, Flow Physics, Micro and Nano Systems.

Plenary Speakers

The conference features two distinguished plenary speakers, Prof. Remi Abgrall of the University of Zurich and Prof. Paul Fischer of the University of Illinois. In addition to what is anticipated to be two fascinating talks of interest to both CFD developers and practitioners, participants in CFDSC2015 will be able to attend ten other plenaries in the AMMCS-CAIMS Congress as well as other events in the Congress: semi-plenary talks, over 40 special and contributed sessions, minisymposia, and scientific themes.

Please ensure your final paper is formatted using the CFDSC2015 template provided on this page and NOT the AMMCS-CAIMS2015 template! Authors of multiple papers should submit a single zip file containing all papers (the system will not allow more than a single file to be uploaded).

Conference Registration

Participants will pay a single registration fee to attend both conferences. Please note that presenting paper authors must register with the CFDSC 2015 to have the paper included in the conference program and published in the conference proceedings.

Early Bird Registration Deadline – March 31, 2015

The registration to the CFDSC conference will be processed on the 2015 AMMCS-CAIMS Congress website. Please select either "CFDSC Participant" (item #8) or "CFDSC Student/Postdoctoral Fellow" (item #9), depending on your current status. Note that the registration fee for the CFDSC 2015 includes the cost of the CFDSC banquet and one lunch. The registration fee increases by $50 after the early bird registration deadline.

CFD Society of Canada – Student Scholarships and Travel Grants

The CFD Society of Canada has announced that it will award up to two scholarships of $4,000 each to graduate students pursuing CFD research at a Canadian university. Application deadline: March 1, 2015. Application information here. Scholarships will be awarded at the conference in Waterloo.

The Society will also award up to 10 travel grants of $500 to defray the cost of graduate student air/train/bus/car travel to attend the 2015 conference in Waterloo. The applicant must be a full time graduate student at a Canadian university. Application deadline: May 1, 2015. Application information here.
