The main elements of governance of the CCMIC will be a Director and a Steering Committee consisting of a representative from each of the five units in the Faculty.
Director
- A faculty member in the Faculty of Mathematics whose primary research and teaching interests are in computational mathematics.
- Appointed by the Dean, in consultation with department/school Chairs/Director and members of the CCMIC.
- Responsible for the overall direction and leadership of the CCMIC and the programs for which it is responsible.
- Appointed for a three-year term, normally renewable at most once.
- Appoints members of the Centre, on the advice of the Steering Committee (see below).
Administrative Support
- A staff position
- Accountable to the Director of the Centre for the day-to-day administration of the Centre's activities and programs.
Centre Membership
- Some faculty in the Faculty of Mathematics have been hired to support the Computational Mathematics program; they are automatically members of the Centre.
- All University of Waterloo faculty members who have interest and expertise in Computational Mathematics are eligible to be affiliated members of the Centre. Members are appointed by the Director, on the advice of the Steering Committee (see below).
- In addition to growing the affiliated membership across campus, interest from individuals, corporations, and public institutions outside the university is welcome - e.g. interested sponsors, research consumers, or peer researchers. External adjunct membership is intended to broaden the application and research areas of the Centre outside the immediate university environment through important and meaningful collaboration. Such members are appointed by the Director, on advice of the Steering Committee (see below).
- Current membership
Steering Committee
- Consists of one representative from each of the five academic units in the Faculty of Mathematics, together with the Director (who will Chair) and, ultimately, the Associate Director of the CCMIC. Others (e.g. undergraduate advisor(s), external representatives) might be invited to participate, but without any formal voting status.
- Departmental/School representatives are appointed by the Dean, on the joint recommendation of the Director of the Centre and the relevant unit Chair/Director. Appointments are for three-year terms, normally renewable at most once. Some of the initial appointments will be made for shorter terms in a staggered manner to provide for continuity and orderly turnover.
- Serves as an Advisory Committee to the Director; makes recommendations to Undergraduate Affairs Committee on curricular and other matters associated with the undergraduate program in Computational Mathematics; advises and makes recommendations with respect to graduate studies in the area of computational mathematics.
- Advises the Director on who shall be members of the CCMIC.
- Provides advice to academic units and to the Dean regarding designated hiring to support computational mathematics; such appointments will normally require the support of both the departmental/school advisory committee on appointments and the CCMIC steering committee.

Other Committees/Officers
- Undergraduate Advisor
- Research Colloquia Committee
- Organizes the Centre's research colloquium series of invited speakers. Consists of a faculty representative from each academic unit in the Faculty of Mathematics to be determined by the Director.

- Undergraduate Committee
- The mandate of this committee is to review, monitor and improve the CM undergraduate program. Changes to the program are to be approved here and then recommended to the Steering Committee for approval. Responsibilities include the development of student information as regards the CM undergraduate program.

- Graduate Committee
- The graduate committee reviews, monitors and improves the CM Master's program. It is responsible for graduate admission and development of information on the Master's program.

- Computational Mathematics Scholarship Committee
- Reviews academic records of students registered full-time in the Computational Mathematics program and applicants to first-year in Computational Mathematics to determine eligibility for scholarships. Makes student award recommendations to the Director/Steering Committee.
