Undergraduate Studies

In any given year the Pure Mathematics Department offers approximately 25 pure mathematics courses at the undergraduate level. These courses range from general interest courses such as an introduction to mathematical logic to advanced courses in specialized areas of pure mathematics such as functional analysis or algebra. This area of the Pure Math web site is devoted to these courses. Take a look around and remember to please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Our undergraduate courses are offered on a rotating schedule; take a look at the pdf version of the course offerings for the next several years. You can also check out which courses have been offered in the past.

Pure Math majors may wish to browse through our course descriptions for courses to complete their Pure Math degree as well as general interest courses.

Those students who have a Pure Math Minor or are otherwise interested in taking a Pure Math course, may find our page of course descriptions of "Pure Math Minor and General Interest Courses" of value.

Some of the courses we offer may be of particular interest to students who aren't in Pure Math; take a look at our "Pure Math Courses of Interest to Students in Other Departments" page.

Occasionally a student will be interested in tackling a topic that isn't offered formally in one of our courses. Take a look at the guidelines for "Reading Courses in Pure Mathematics".

Transfer students may wish to take a look at our page on "Transferring Pure Math Credits from Another Institution."

The Registrar's Office web site includes the Undergraduate Calendar, the Schedule of Classes, and Exam Timetable.

Finally, undergraduate students with a desire to explore the research side of pure mathematics are encouraged to apply to NSERC's Undergraduate Student Research Awards Program. Check out our NSERC USRA page for program eligibility, information and deadlines.
