| Title: | "Instantons and Killing spinors" |
| Abstract: | Instantons are connections on vector bundles over 4-manifolds whose curvature solves the anti-self-dual equation. They have numerous applications in theoretical physics, and were used by Donaldson to construct 4-manifold invariants. A generalisation to dimensions greater than 4 was proposed in the 1980s, based on G-structures. I will argue that it is worth studying these instantons on manifolds that admit real Killing spinors, such as the round spheres. I will present some new solutions, and discuss some applications. |
